Cashier
Food Lion
June 2020 – Present
Working as a Cashier at Food Lion has been quite the experience. Dealing with a various amount of customers with different personalities, day in and day out was definitely a hassle of its own. I had to deal with a lot of not so good attitudes but was grateful to meet a great amount of people in that store, some I will always remember. This job has helped me increase my social and communication skills because within that field of work, communication is good customer service. It taught me how to be more precise with how I handle stuff in the workplace, made me more self-aware due to me always working with the register which contains cash.
Front Desk Attendant/ Cart Attendant
Old Dominion University (The Office of Educational Accesibility)
Aug 2019 – Jan 2020
Working as a front desk attendant and cart attendant at my college was a great opportunity for me. It taught me how to carry myself in a professional workplace. It introduced me to a different type of work environment since I was dealing with confidential information regarding students. It taught me how to be more organized in a workplace, how to be more presentable, and how to communicate with different type of people. It made me enjoy actually meeting and talking to new people and I enjoyed having different objectives and tasks each day.
Host
Longhorn Steakhouse
June 2018 – August 2018
Working at Longhorn Steakhouse taught me how to keep up with a lot of responsibilities and task at once. Working at a restaurant may seem easy until you try it! I was sometimes told to seat people, bring people food, and talk to a customer on the phone all at once! Although it was not the easiest and best job experience it taught me how to multi-task and be more organized within my work. It kind of taught me hard work and teamwork within the workplace because I never wanted to let my servers down.
Sales Associate
Rue21
Feb 2018 – May 2018
Rue21 was my first real paying job that I had and it was a tough experience. With my communication skills being at a minimum it was really hard to bring myself to help customers at clothing sections or at the register. In that job I also had to give each customer a pitch to buy our stores cologne and although at first I was absolutely horrible, overtime I started to get better at talking to people and convincing them to buy products even when they did not want to. I also gained Industry expertise in this job because I was always with the manager and overlooked her doings.
