Assignment Takeaway

ATA5: For my final assignment, I did 5 good deeds for random people throughout the week. Even though this was required for this assignment, It felt really nice to be helping people. After writing this paper, I learned that the simplest tasks being done for people can really make a difference in their day. I’ve also learned about this content in my Lifespan Development class, as it is important for children to learn these kind acts from their parents and use them in day to day life. This content also applies to me because this is something that I want to teach my children. For example whenever I do nice things for random people, I would explain these acts to my children as well as how important it is to do them often. From this, I will try to do more things for people whenever I can!

Above is a quote that goes along with the concept surrounding my last assignment. This is also something I live by!

ATA4: This assignment I really liked due to it being about relationships! I think romantic relationships are an important aspect in one’s life. For this assignment, I’ve taken a questionnaire about my relationships and how I am while in one. Afterwards, I added and analyzed the data to find out what they meant for me. From this alone, I learned what I like and dislike, my preferences, and my mindset while in a relationship. I have learned about relationships like this in a Interpersonal Communications class. I learned how relationships help with so many things and how they affect us in multiple ways. Learning about this in two different courses, I’ve applied this to my past relationships, trying to see where I can improve for my next one. For example, In my next relationship, I will try to understand my partner’s point of view and I will improve my communications skills. Below is a chart that I found to tell whether a relationship is healthy or not.

Above is a list of things that are considered Healthy or Non-Healthy. I will try to incorporate these skills to ensure my next relationship is healthier.

ATA3: I’ve personally enjoyed writing my third assignment on racism and acts of it, seeing as this still a major issue within today’s world. For this assignment, I watched a video of Michael Richard shouting out racial slurs. From this, I was supposed to determine whether this was racist or not and explained my thoughts on this matter. From this assignment, I learned that racism is still very much alive today and that it is still a problem. I’ve also learned about racism and all of its aspects in previous history classes as this was apart of American history. I found that this assignment is very relevant to me because I am part African American and hearing those derogatory terms being used in a public setting made me realize how some people still believe in those words being appropriate for any use. Watching this video has made me aware of people who think this way and to always stay alert. Below is my chosen photo for this assignment, a quote that correlates with this issue and I personally feel about racism all together.

I chose this quote as my choice of visualization because this is something I live by personally. I believe all people should live by this because, regardless of skin color, we are all human and equal.

ATA2: For this assignment I made a 10 picture collage of me, allowing myself to see who I am. This assignment is my favorite one so far, because I get to analyze my own self in terms of “who am I?”. After completing this assignment, It made me learn about my deeper-self, realizing how I see myself in a positive light. This makes me realize how I see myself versus how others see me and I see the differences; not everybody is going to see me how I see myself and thats perfectly okay! I relate this assignment to a module that I’ve learned about in my lifespan development course, a module learning about how a child develops and changes over their life in specific stages. I also relate this to my module 6 work in this class, discussing my personality traits throughout the paper. I believe that this assignment was very personally relevant to me, I talked about my transformation from child to adult, showing how much I have changed throughout time. I can use this for other purposes; For example, if one day I’m feeling down and unmotivated for school, I can look back on this assignment as a reminder for me to keep pushing, i’m worth it!

Above is the image I chose to represent this project; A list of personal qualities that I see within myself. This played a big part in choosing the pictures that showed these qualities as well as writing about them.
