Blog 10: In the beginning of the Fall 2019 semester, I didn’t know what to expect from this course. After reading the course syllabus, I thought it would be difficult for me to succeed. After completing various projects within this course, It’s safe to say that I was very successful. I feel that I have achieved all of the course objectives and have shown proof within my assignments. Throughout this semester, I learned how to actually study and make various connections within the real world compared to the social psychology world. My attitude towards Social Psychology has changed drastically, I actually enjoy learning about it! If I had to retake this course again, I would try to make a study group for the exams and do review sessions. I feel as if those could have helped me more. When living my life, I will apply many of the concepts learned into various events. For example, when In a relationship, I will apply all the things learned in the relationship module into my relationship to ensure I am doing things right. I will also use these concepts throughout my college experience!

Blog 9: I’ve learned a variety of things while being in this course. I would say the top 3 things I’ve learned while taking this class are that ALL relationships are very important throughout life, your self esteem is very important when developing your ego and confidence, and that stereotyping, along with discrimination, is a big issue within the United States. For all of these topics, I’ve discussed them in my e-portfolio with similar situations. Also, the content within this course I have applied within my essay assignments. With doing so, this shows how I understood the content I’ve learned throughout this semester! I can also connect some content to things learned within another class. For example, I learned about love and relationships and applied that to my lifespan development class. I connected these two together because relationships come with each part of your life, whether it is romantic or friendly. I can easily say that everything I’ve learned in Social Psychology can be applied to past and future references.

Blog 8: After reading this article, I thought that this was interesting and educational especially since I’ve never read about this before. I think this is something people should read, especially when in relationships. Its taught me a few things about sexual conflict, including the stages that people go through. It’s easy for men and women to sometimes have a conflict, but its something about each gender that really ticks the other one off. Different things about us may not please everybody. From experience, I know that women hate when men are always on their phones, ignoring her. This is something is very annoying and will most likely irritate the woman. As for men, they hate when women talk too much. I used to see this a lot with my younger friends. Below are 2 images that show what women and men hate about each other.

Blog 7: Self-Regulation and Emotional Intelligence are tied into each other, you cannot have one without the other. Self-Regulation is knowing how you act, controlling your emotions, and keeping yourself within your boundaries. You need Emotional Intelligence in order to practice Self-Regulation as your emotions impact this. To me, Emotional Intelligence means realizing your emotions and knowing when It is appropriate to use them. For example, I show my emotional intelligence everyday within my interactions with people by showing my confidence. Staying committed to my goals and future plans is also apart of this! My EQ can always use improvement. I plan on doing this by practicing more self awareness, maintain positive attitudes, and reflect on my emotions more often. Below, I’ve posted my results from an EQ quiz. Looking at these results makes me want to work harder on myself.

Blog 6: I’ve recently watched a video called “Killing me softly” which brings attention to how women are portrayed to the public and how they should look in order to feel accepted or beautiful. My initial reaction about this was not surprising as I see things like this all the time. Before watching this, I’ve known that women with specific features and body types were shown off, being seen as “the perfect girl”. Women are shown ads like this to change themselves in hopes of becoming perfect and flawless but realistically this can’t be achieved. I now understand how frequently women are pressured into feeling like they should look a certain way in order to feel or accepted as beautiful. Below are my 5 ads that I’ve found while surfing the internet, all of these correlate with how women were portrayed in this video and their common goal.

Blog 5: Ads are meant to attract people towards certain products or to promote something. Below are three ads I’ve found while browsing the internet; They all represent something different. Picture A is a credible source. When looking at it, I can see the results from the images shown and it has a link leading to results and reviews. I chose this one because the results were real as well as the back stories. I would say that most ads like these are fact but this seemed to be a very reliable one. Picture B is a non-credible resource because it coming from another persons opinion and its not 100% percent accurate. I chose this one because after clicking the link, it took me another website with results waiting to be opened. The Last picture C is a attractive and effective source because it shows a well known vacation spot where many people wanna visit. This is meant to encourage the person into entertain the idea, this is how I knew this would be a good attractive source.

Blog 4: Taking my first exam of the semester for this class, I surprised myself my making an 86%, not bad! Afterwards, I’ve reviewed the test to see what questions I missed to better educate myself on the topics. This was easy since they were highlighted. While looking at the questions missed, I then tweaked my notes and compared them to the review sheet that I created prior to testing. After doing this, I realized that most of the questions I missed where scenario related questions. From this, I will now incorporate scenario examples within my notes to help better my chances of not missing these types of questions on the next exam!

Blog 3: I think that the correlation between music and relationships among people does have an impact on them. I believe when you and people you may hang around have the same taste in music selections, it draws you closer together. I tend to listen to love songs when thinking about romantic relationships or about my family because the love is shown between us and the lyrics bring up their memories when listening to this genre of music. For my friendships, I tend to listen to more upbeat songs with fast lyrics as this what we like to listen to when we are together. Noticing that we all like the same music, we possess the same qualities such as being happy and excited most of the time. Though this is true for me, I do not believe that all people that listen to the same music possess the same values as others do.
Blog 2: I believe that I am a “learn as you go” kind of student. To me, this means that I tend to pick up new skills/learning methods as I continue my journey through college. I am always willing to learn and discover new things to help me be successful. As of now, I am sometimes confident that I will be successful. Though sometimes I become doubtful, I know that if I continue to surround myself around positive people and keep up with myself, It will help boost my confidence academically.

Blog 1: I’ve thoroughly read through the class syllabus and have found it to be very useful for this semester. The course objectives caught my eye as these will be my goals to reach by the end of this course. I hope to know all aspects of Social Psychology and to use these for future purposes. Below, you can see my notes for Module 1, highlighted with notes off to the side. Using this strategy as well as study content each night for 30 minutes will help me be successful in this class.
