The Officer of the Deck (OOD) on a warship is the Captain’s representative when she/he is not present on the Pilot House. As such, I have been responsible for the safe navigation and operation of a 100-ton aircraft carrier and her 5,000 personnel. This leadership opportunity was earned by displaying the ability to communicate across departments, apply problem solving skills under pressure, and prioritize a variety of evolutions while developing teams, enforcing safety and sticking to Environmental, International and Naval regulations. It was a true test and honor to execute a demanding schedule, apply creative solutions to conflicting demands from Engineering, Reactor, Weapons, and many other departments. This skills can be applied to complex manufacturing positions to carry out and improve operations.
