311: Communicative Competence (Speaking and Listening)

This course was based on improving Spanish speaking and listening skills. While some grammar homework was involved, the bulk of class time was centered on speaking in an authentic manner as often as possible. We spoke in small groups consisting of different classmates everyday. I completed 2 presentations in front of the class, 5 oral expository oral compositions online, 2 oral interviews with my professor, as well as 2 30 minute video chats with native speakers. All of these assignments were incredibly beneficial in improving my conversational and presentation speaking. I not only became more comfortable talking for longer periods of time, but also in understanding that conversational speech does not need to be in perfect, complete sentences.

Below you can find audio excerpts from the video calls I had with native speakers.

I have also attached reflections on both experiences which include profiles of both participants as well as some details of our conversation. Please click them in order to view them in their entirety.
