Virginia Pediatric Center located in Virginia Beach is a center dedicated for children’s vision from simple routine eye exams to complex surgical cases. Therefore, the staff have been divided, some work in the Chesapeake office while others work in the Virginia Beach office. I came into the office working in the scheduling department. I started by watching the main person who answers the phone to schedule appointments, Gloria. From there, I went to the medical records department then scribing. Here I can demonstrate my leadership skills, that I think are important for my future career. Internship at the Eye Center gives an individual going into the healthcare field insight of how their future job could be. This Eye Center has not been accepting interns, but luckily, they accepted me. The internship experience is amazing and as a scribe I am able to participate in procedures like ROP patients who need their eyes checked. With the Leaders program I have been able to have a background of how my future career will be like and skills needed for the field.
