1. My major relates to cybersecurity because I am double majoring in both criminal justice and social work. Both of these majors require vigorous hours spent on a computer and going into detail with different software applications. In addition to the time spent on the computer it is important to know of the ins and outs of cybersecurity because of the information that is stored. While dealing with criminal justice you will come across multiple pieces of valuable information for cases. This information needs to be protected at all cost because it could mean life or death for certain people. Police are switching to a large database that is online more and more everyday so with that it is important to understand what could go wrong and how to help protect it from going wrong. On top of my major in criminal justice, my major in social work I will be dealing with a lot of computer work also. The information and pictures of children will be stored within software and these are confidential records so it is important to know how to keep it all safe. It will be helpful for me to know background knowledge of the types of attacks and things like that. With this knowledge of cybersecurity, I feel I will be well qualified and prepared for the basics.
