One thing I learned in this class was cellular communication. While it was our last unit for my cell biology course it provided me a much greater understanding how cells communicate through signals and receptors. Before cell biology, I was aware of this signal and receptor relationship, but through this class I was able to gain more information on the intricacies of these mechanisms. I learned the 5 categories of cellular communication, (Endocrine Signaling, Paracrine Signaling, Autocrine signaling, Cell-Cell communication, and Neuronal Signaling). While understanding all of these categories is extremely important, the most important to me is the neuronal signaling that occurs. The reason this is the most important to me is because I would like to go into psychiatry, so understanding how and why neurons communicate the way that they do is vital.
