You are required to keep a daily log of your activities for each day worked. Generally speaking, in this journal you should: a) chronicle the most important events, b) explain why the events chronicled are important, c) explain how they took place, d) who was involved, and d) when they took place. Student should answer these five questions from Skripak (2016) in the beginning of their journal:

  • Am I a self-starter? How well do I follow through on my ideas?
  • How well do I get along with different personalities?
  • How good am I at making decisions?
  • Do I have the physical and emotional stamina? Explain.
  • How well do I plan and organize?
  • How will my entrepreneurial efforts affect my family? (Skripak, 2016).

At least twelve of entries for the journal should be a response to the online modules shown in the course outline below. Specifically, students should provide an overview of something the learned from the module and how that information relates to their entrepreneurial project or interests.

When writing journal entries for the rest of the semester, please consider some of the following things to discuss:

  • Did any problems arise during a workday, and if so, how were they resolved?
  • What feelings did you have while you engaged in your entrepreneurial actions?
  • Discuss what you have learned from the work completed for the day, how have you benefited, and any potential recommendations that you have for improvements or changes.
  • What ethical issues did you confront in developing your product/program/initiative?
  • How do your efforts contribute to the betterment of society?
  • Is it wrong to make money off of the initiatives you describe?
  • How will you know if your entrepreneurial efforts are successful?
  • What are your goals for this particular innovation?
  • What good can come out of this project?
  • What negative consequences can come out of this project?
  • Reflecting on the entrepreneurial process, what worked and what did not work?
  • Who did I meet during the week and how will they fit into my network?
  • What is the exit strategy for my venture?
  • Read the Wall Street Journal and find a recent story that describes an entrepreneurial activity (Could be success or failure)
  • What three things did you learn in your courses that relate to your innovation?
  • Identify “blank spaces” that are opportunities for entrepreneurship and innovation in your field.
  • What did I learn in the past week and how did this inform my innovation?
  • Describe five businesses or non-profits that have been created in my field.
  • In the last week of the class, entrepreneurs should address these questions in their journals:
  • What is your overall perspective on the entrepreneurship experience?
  • What are the benefits of the entrepreneurship placement from your perspective? Please include at least four benefits in your discussion.
  • What are the potential employment prospects with the agency?
  • How did the entrepreneurship prepare or not prepare you to be a competitive candidate for vacant positions?
  • What did you like best about the experience?
  • What did you like least about the experience?
  • What suggestions do you have to improve the experience?

Journal entries should be submitted in your e-Portfolio via the blog option. They will be reviewed every two weeks. The journal entries are worth 20 percent of your grade. In all you should have ninety entries in your entrepreneurship journal by the end of the semester.
