Cyber Ops Event:
The Cyber Ops event was very different than I expected. Firstly I expected there to be a lot more students there than there was. I also wasn’t expecting there to be actual adults competing in it as well. The actual capture the flag questions varied a lot in my opinion. Some of the stuff was extremely easy, but then the next thing was almost impossible to complete in a while hour. It was also a very good experience to show me the extent on what I will have to learn by the time I graduate which was very exciting. Overall though it was a very good event and a very good experience to kind of introduce us to the field of cyber security.
Career Connections Event:
I stopped by almost all of the employers including NASA, Sentora, FBI, and a children’s hospital.
All of the companies that I went to check out stood out in their own ways but the 2 companies that stood out the most were NASA and sentora. NASA stood out because I have always been interested in space. And sentora stood out because they mentioned interns doing incident response, a field I am interested in.
The daily life as an intern as NASA was described as being a learning experience. You follow what the person you are assigned to is doing with a group of interns and learn from watching.
The daily life as an intern for sentora was described as real work. You work for 24 hours a week in projects and just normal daily things as if you were an employee.
