Explain how the principles of science relate to cybersecurity

The principles of science affect cybersecurity in ways that would usually obvious but since we see it everyday; we don’t really think about it too hard. Through Relativism, a change in one system leads to a change in other systems. For example, with the rise of technology, new ways to commit crime has lead to multiple laws being passed that we wouldn’t have ever thought of. Objectivity refers to minimizing bias for accurate analysis. With this thought in mind, we should always try to keep our biases in check for a more detailed interpretation of data given to us. Through Parsimony, the idea is that the simplest explanation is usually best one. To be more accurate, the explanation with the least assumptions is the best one. For example, when checking a system alert, one wouldn’t immediately think of a full system compromise, the problem could be a user error or other trivial matter. Empiricism talks about how we shouldnt jump to conclusions based limited data. It is important to be aware when you dont have enough data as that can lead to erroneous conclusions. Ethical Neutrality talks about how we should adhere to ethical standards when dealing with ethical issues. This thinking allows for us to maintain credibility, enhance objectivity, and uphold professionalism. Determinism is a belief that behavior is caused, determined, or influenced by preceding events. When looking at it from a cybersecurity angle, one would know the limits a machine can do. System compromises happen everyday. Even if new tactics emerge, we can use reverse engineering and trace its source no matter how difficult the situation.
