I was unaware on just how many proteins and cellular functions exist, and how each one plays a key role to coordinate daily bodily functions. Learning about these processes helped me understand that complex behaviors and brain functions all begin with cellular level interactions. As I am interested in the nervous systems and neuropsychology, this course showed me that understanding neurons, neurotransmitters, and brain disorders often requires a strong foundation in cell biology, which I initially lacked. The slight changes in cellular functions can significantly influence memory, learning, and behavior. I found that this course helped me grow as a student as it taught me to think about biological processes from the molecular level up to the entire organism, instead of just focusing on the areas that I am interested in. I realized how cell biology supports many other areas of science and psychology, including my interest in the brain and behavior. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
One of the most valuable things I learned in this Cell Biology course was that cells communicate through signaling pathways and how proteins regulate cellular functions.
