A Reflection

Something important I learned in this class was the functions and methods that cells use to survive and communicate. In this course, understanding the differences in how prokaryotes and eukaryotes function resonated with me. This is especially important in marine biology for prokaryotes. Most of the marine trophic system starts at a microscopic level, so understanding how prokaryotes operate is crucial to the study. Aside from cells being the base unit of all life, this course was important in helping me understand the sheer amount of complexity. Being able to link what I have learned in organic chemistry and follow paths down to the ions was fascinating to me.
