Reflection

Throughout the semester I have learned so much about how my body actually works. One thing I learned about this semester that is specific to my field of interest in biology is lactic acid buildup. Specifically, how it does and does not relate to the soreness of muscles after a workout, and ways to combat the symptoms. Learning about lactic acid buildup was beneficial for me both academically and recreationally. This is because I hope to work with athletes after I graduate with my master’s while also being an avid runner myself. When working with athletes it will also be helpful that I understand glycolysis which is how the pyruvate is created that can cause lactic acid buildup while also being a step in creating ATP for energy use!
