One topic that helped me make a connection to my field of interest, medical laboratory science, was the dysfunctions of the immune system. These dysfunctions helped correlate with my field of interest because it shows how the diseases develop and affect the body. Specifically, Crohn’s disease is tested in the laboratory through various scans and lab tests. This shows how important and critical the laboratory is when it comes to diagnosing various diseases. Learning about the different dysfunctions has helped me grow as a student because I am able to understand diseases that I was uneducated or unaware of. Therefore, the dysfunctions of the immune system relates to my field of interest.
