These are the writing assignments that I have complete during my time in Genetics (Bio294). The first writing assignment was a personal statement that outlined what I would like to do once I graduate. The second writing assignment was defining primary and review sources, identifying which one of the two articles was a primary source (given two different articles), and what process goes into the peer review process. The third assignment we had to find a primary source and cite that source. The fourth writing assignment we had to find a PubMed primary article that was genetics-related in a peer-reviewed journal and write a summary of that article with proper journal nature citations. The fifth writing assignment we had to find a genetics-related article in a newspaper or magazine and write a summary of it, we also had to find at least one scientific review article that support the article we found so that the information could be proven accurate or inaccurate. For the Genome Assignment we access the National Library of Medicine and used BLAST (Basic Local Alignment Search Tool) to search nucleotides as well as protein sequences that had been uploading to the database.
