Working as a ticketing sales account executive for the Fredericksburg Nationals is a job that requires communication, marketing strategy, leadership project management, among other things. My Penpal, Quentin, strives to use his skills to elevate himself to work in a front office position at the professional level. In order to standout, I Quentin must stand above his peers to build on the over $375,000 in ticket packages he’s sold. As a sports professional I was the perfect person to team up with Quentin to come up with ideas he can implement to get him that stellar recognition he deserves.
The first thing we had to consider is what everyone fan wishes they had more of at a baseball game. We came up with four things: Beer, Food, Friends, Music. We needed to find a way to combine these things so that people will get excited to come to a National game. We came up with a few small changes and one big event that helps combine the small changes. First, we could offer specials once a week for drinks and encourage people to bring their friends with them. We are going to start offering $5 Pitchers of Beer on Fridays when you bring a friend to the stand with you. If you catch a ball from the field of play on any day at any point in the game, you get an automatic free 8oz beer. This is just another way to keep people engaged.
The event we look to plan would be a monthly event that will help pull members of the community together to promote the Nationals. We propose doing pre game concert once a month that will be heavily marketed on social media and have big name performers. The idea of a concert seems simple, but is very effective. The concert would be no more than 1 hour and would bring freinds and family together to enjoy the music. That’s another consideration-the music. What type of music would bring people together? We decided that every month would have a different theme so that people with different tastes could all still enjoy.
