1. This semester has allowed me to grow in so many different ways. Earlier in the semester, I used to wait forever to do my assignments and they would always be late. However, towards the end of the semester, I started doing assignments as soon as they came out. My expectations for this year were that all my classes will move at a faster pace than in high school, studying is a key to passing, and procrastinating is crucial. Everything I expected happened and I was only slightly prepared for everything this semester has brought me. Something I wish I knew 14 weeks ago is it’s completely fine to change your major whenever it happens so often because there are so many degrees and majors to choose from.
2. This semester I spent a handful of time studying. Overall now I would say I spend about 5 hours a week or more studying and doing work for classes. Earlier in the semester, I spend about 2 hours a week on work. I have made my study habits better by taking more detailed notes and writing down ceratin dates for exams and events. A resource that has helped me tremendously in going to office hours because it helps me completely understand what we are doing in class at that time. For next semester I will take detailed notes, record the lecture (if the professor allows it), and continue going to office hours.
3. All the courses I took this year were tied together by the Health Sciences learning community. Being in this learning community has helped me study and meet the same people who are interested in the same profession. Chemistry and Chemistry Lab are mostly tied together because it is the same class just one is a lab and we meet every Tuesday. The event that was most beneficial for me was the movie night for a sociology class. the reason this was most beneficial for me is that I was able to watch a movie on how the nursing and medical field is in reality.
