With this assignment, we had to find a peer reviewed journal article on a topic that related to some selected topics from the textbook. After selecting a topic, we had to also find a country that we would like to visit or have already visited and relate the selected topic to the country. The topic that I chose for this assignment was health and the country that chose to relate this topic to was Ghana.

I applied the assignment content to “using technology to change the world” a topic from my psychology 307- institutionalization of human-centered computing class. I applied this assignment to this topic because it is about how technology can be used to improve lives of human which includes health. The peer reviewed article that I found talked about how the lack of technological advances diminishes and deprives the citizens of Ghana of good health care.

This assignment was personally relevant to me because it gave me the opportunity to learn more about Ghana. I learned a lot about Ghana and the health care system available in the country. I wish to visit Ghana soon and this assignment will greatly help in my preparation. For instance, whenever I get the opportunity to visit Ghana, I will be more careful about my health and carry first aid kit for any emergency.

I chose this image because is it the crest of Ghana health service. This Image represents health care in Ghana. It tells the motto or the vision of the Ghana health service.

This assignment was about gender and advertising across cultures. We were tasked to compare how gender is portrayed in North America advertisements to another culture of our choice. I learned about some of the differences and similarities among cultures in the way they portray gender in their advertisements. For example, in North America, they turn to stive for equality while in the Ghanaian culture, they strive for gender roles in their advertisements.

I applied this assignment content to “causes and cures of stereotyping, prejudice, and discrimination” a topic I learned in my social psychology class. This topic talks about how women are advertised to appear in public and how they have to look in other to be considered attractive and beautiful. I related this assignment to this topic because they both talk about how gender is portrayed.

This assignment was personally relevant to me because it gave me the opportunity to learn more about how gender is represented in adverts. We have become normal to things we see on daily basis and as such do not recognize the impacts that they have on us. Through this assignment, I was able to practice what I was taught in class. For instance, I was able to point out to my friends about how advertisement portray the beauty of women and how they expect every woman to be in other to be considered beautiful and attractive.

I chose this image because it shows how women are portrayed in adverts. The image shows a body of a beech ready lady in an advertisement conveying a message that, this is how women are supposed to look like to go to the beech.

This assignment was about an article that focused on values. The writer of this article grouped the American values into thirteen categorize. The article explained into details the main reasons for categorizing the American values. The article also provided guidelines for people to identify with one of the categories. From doing this assignment, I learned that I closely associate with the action/work orientation category of the American values. I applied this assignment to (values) a topic in my organizational psychology class. The textbook for my organizational psychology class talks about the importance and the organization of values. Both the article and the textbook dive deeper into the organization of values.

The assignment was personally relevant to me because it deepened my understanding of values and also helped me identify the category of the American vales that I closely relate to. For example, I never knew the categorize of values but now I know all the thirteen categories of the American values. I also found out that I associate with most of the values that are classified as action/work orientation.

I chose this image because it is about values. the image has many examples of values that most people relate to and live by.

This assignment was about reading the developmental model of intercultural sensitivity and identifying which of the stages of the model one identifies with the most and give an explanation and some examples. Doing this assignment represented me with the opportunity to read and learn all the stages of the model of cultural sensitivity. I learned that I closely identify with the minimization of difference stage of the developmental model of intercultural sensitivity. I came to this conclusion after analyzing how I relate with other people from different cultural backgrounds and my expectations of others.

I applied the content of this assignment to an online class that I took for my job about cross culture “(CE002) Cross-Cultural Communications, Cognition and Linguistics | NDPHTN”. Both the assignment and the online class are about how people relate and react to other cultures. The material of this assignment was personally relevant to me as it helped me in understanding the stage of the model I identify with and know what I had to improve on. For example, I learned to not over stress on cultural contrast and develop cognitive and intuitive empathy.
