I had to fill out a form by matching a particular job to a gender. I had to find another person from a different background other than mine and compare the results. learned that gender stereotype in occupation is a cross cultures. I learned that society tend to associate specific genders to specific occupations.

This is my 5th favorite artifact. I enjoyed doing this artifact activity but not as much as enjoyed the others.

https://www.washington.edu/news/2015/04/09/whos-a-ceo-google-image-results-can-shift-gender-biases/

I chose this image because it shows occupations that are dominated by gender.

Artifact 4

This artifact was about culture and personality. For this artifact, I had to describe past episodes where my behaviors did not match my personality traits. I learned that when I am upset, I tend to deviate from my normal personality. I become more aggressive and speak less.

This is my 4th favorite artifact because I do not like to share my life experiences especially those involving behavioral episodes.

https://www.verywellmind.com/type-a-personality-traits-3145240

I chose this image because it shows some common traits and how a person reacts to them.

Artifact 3

This artifact was about enculturation. I learned about the influences of my parents culture on me. I compared the values in life that I live by to the cultural norms I learned from my parents. After the activity, I found out that even though I still value and cherish my parents cultural teachings and norms, I live by my own believes and values.

This is my 3rd favorite artifact. I had the opportunity to compare and contrast my cultural values to my personal values in live.

https://nextchurch.net/a-sankofa-september-to-re-member/

I chose this image because it’s name and meaning, which is Sankofa that means to go back to the good old days and learn from the past.

Artifact 2

I learned about the Hofstede’s five value dimensions that differentiate cultures. I had to choose two countries and compare their score. I chose The United States (right image) and Austria (left image). I noticed that these countries have similarities and differences. I learned that the differences between the scores did not change my opinions or views about other cultures. I believe in treating everybody with respect and that makes my experience with other people from different cultural backgrounds very easy and apprehending. I see the scores as statistics that do not impact everyone.

This is my 2nd favorite artifact. I enjoyed taking the Hofstede’s five value dimensions that differentiate cultures. I learned a lot from this activity.

I chose these images because they are my actual score from taken the Hofstede’s five value dimensions that differentiate cultures test.

Artifact 1

For this artifact, I had to locate and take a picture of an object that represents my culture. I am from Ghana and we have unique traditions. Every cultural tribe in Ghana has a way of differentiating themselves. One of the ways that my culture is well known for is our traditional way of dressing. I learned a lot more about my culture from this activity and I was glad that I was given the opportunity to introduce my culture to others.

This is my favorite artifact. I had the opportunity to highlight on my cultural values. I enjoyed sharing my cultural or traditional way of dressing with this artifact.

https://africa.uima.uiowa.edu/topic-essays/show/8?start=1

I chose this image because it shows the traditional dressing of my culture.
