I selected this image because it visually represent what I have learned in this course
Comparing my initial course expectations with the actual outcomes, I feel very satisfied and confident that I have achieved this course objectives.
Before this course, I thought social psychology was only about the society. I have learned other aspects of social psychology such as the self, attitudes, aggression, and causes and cures of stereotyping, prejudice, and discrimination that are not just about the society but about the people in the society. These topics have changed my attitudes about social psychology. These topics have broaden my knowledge about social psychology.
If I am to take this class again, the only thing that I might do differently is that, I will allocate more reading time to the course material. One way that I have grown academically is by applying what I have studied in this course in life. Appling what I have learned in class in life have helped me further understand the course material better and this is one of the ways that I have grown academically.
One skill that I have gained from this course that I can utilize in my professional life is the use of a weekly blog. Doing my weekly blog assignments kept me focused and organized in this class. It was easy for me to refresh on what I have learned during the week. Creating weekly blogs is one skill that has been very instrumental to my success in this class and I plan on using this skill in my other classes even when I am not required to.

I selected this image because it virtually represents the work that I did in this class such as research, reading and knowledge retainment.
I have learned a lot of important information from this course but my top three things from this course are self-efficacy, causes and cures of stereotyping prejudice, and discrimination and liking, loving and other close relationships.
Self-efficacy is one of the top topics that I have learned in this course. This helped me further understand who I am as an individual. The e-portfolio assignment provided me with another opportunity to dive deeper into my inner self by asking me to take an online self-efficacy test.
Causes and cures of stereotyping, prejudice and discrimination are one of the tops things that I learned form this course. I learned a lot about this topic such as modern racism, learning not to hate and nature and origin of stereotype. The e-portfolio portion also gave me the opportunity to research more into this topic especially about prejudice.
Liking, loving and other close relationships. This is another one of my top three topics in this course. I learned a lot of information that I can apply in my life form this topic. The e-portfolio gave me an opportunity to dig deeper into this topic and learn much more about this topic such as how men and women upset each other.
Attitude is something that I have learned in this course that I can connect with health promoting behaviors that I learned in my health psychology class. Both topics are about behavior and how our behaviors affect our health.

I selected these images because they show men and women upsetting each other.
Mating can sometimes be complicated. Knowing who to trust is one of the biggest concerns when choosing a partner in my opinion. This article address some of these concerns and after reading the article, I have learned a lot about mating such as why people stalk their ex partners and sexual conflict.
Both men and women upset each other as a result of human sexual conflict which arises from the differences in their genes according to the article.
Men upset women in many ways, some of the ways by which men upset women are being too aggressive and demanding. Another way is men not fulfilling their obligations and responsibilities.
Women upset men in ways as well. Some of the ways by which women upset men are being time demanding and insecurity.

I selected this Image because it is a graphical representation of how emotional intelligence relate to self regulation, motivation, self awareness, social skill and empathy. This image gives a general idea about the links between the above-mentioned topics.
Emotional intelligence is the ability to understand, sense and effectively apply the power and acumen of emotions to facilitate higher levels of collaboration and productivity. Self regulation is the ability to control one’s behavior, emotions and thoughts toward a long term goal.
Personally, emotional intelligence means holding people accountable for the results of their actions when they are emotionally challenged. For every action there is a reaction, therefore people should be mindful of how they react to certain instances especially when emotions are involved.
The relationship between self regulation and emotional intelligence is how one chooses to control and regulate one’s emotions and thoughts when emotionally challenged. One of the ways of improving emotional intelligence is by cultivating self awareness. Self awareness helps in regulation of emotions. For example, I am displaying emotional intelligence if I decide to take deep breath and relax when I am being disturbed by someone rather than getting into an authentication with that person.

I selected this image because it depicts how women are dehumanized in advertisements.

I selected this image because it shows stereotype against women in advertisements.

I selected this image because it depicts stereotype against women in advertisements.

I selected this image because it shows how women are distorted in advertisements.

I selected this image because it shows how women are distorted and stereotyped in advertisements.
I was not surprised by the content of the video. Women have always been portrayed as weak compared to men in advertisements which is very wrong but unfortunately it keeps happening. Women deal with stereotype more than men in ads and this video highlighted a few.
Before I watched the video, I was not expecting anything different from how women have been portrayed in advertisements. Women are portrayed to be beautiful in advertisement only if they have certain body types, shapes and sizes usually thin, curvy and tall. Women are always naked or almost naked in advertisements which is something that is hardly noticed about men in advertisements.
After watching the video, I was surprised to learn that women especially young women can suffer from low self-esteem, depression and eating disorder from these advertisements.
The images that I selected are examples of how women are distorted, dehumanized and stereotyped against in advertisements. One of the images suggests how a woman has to think like a man in order for her to be her own boss. This is a clear example of stereotype against women. One of the images portrays how women are supposed to do all the house work while men relax in couch doing nothing. The remaining three of the images portray how a beautiful woman should look like in advertisements.

Picture B; non credible source.

Picture C; attractive source
https://www.signs.com/advertisement-vs-reality/
I selected picture A as a credible source because the focus of this ad is only to inform about belly dancing and how it helps the body. I perceived this source to be credible because of its trustworthiness. The author only writes about belly dancing and gives specific information about belly dancing.
I selected picture B as a noncredible source because the ad contains other ads on the same page. I perceived this source to be noncredible because the source is not primarily focused on one thing. The topic is about relaxation but the author does write about other things such as arthritis and back pain cancer on the same page which makes it seem less credible.
I selected picture C as an attractive source because the picture of the product in the ad is different than the actual product in reality. Attractive ads are very persuasive and effective because customers hope to receive products as advertised. This is mostly due to the fact that most consumers are attracted to attractive looking products and are likely to purchase products that have attractive ads.

Test 1 review
Test reviewing is not something that I usually do but I have learned a lot from doing it for this assignment. I was able to find out the right answer to the question that I had wrong on the test. After finding out the right answer, I quickly realized the reason why I had that question wrong. The answer choices were very similar and I rushed in choosing the correct one. I ended up choosing the wrong answer choice. I did not argue with my notes as I read through the chapters during the review process. I simply chose the wrong answer in a rush.
I studied and prepared very well before I took the test and one of my strategy was that, I spread the review sheet over the week prior to the test. This gave me an ample time to fully review the chapters before the test. The feedback will help my test taking strategy on future tests in many ways. One of the ways is that, I have learned to take my time and thoroughly read both the test questions and the answer choices before answering a test question. I have also learned that, spreading the chapters over the week prior to a test is really helpful and I will continue to practice that.

Soul meets body
Music is very important and it helps in making connection between newly met people easy. A lot of people relate to others through music. I noticed a similarity in music preference between my friend and his girl friend. We were playing music in our apartment and when this girl who happens to just pass by stops and dances to our music. My friend started talking to her and they discovered they have similar taste in music and have been dating since.
I share similar ideas and values with most of my friends through music. We all hung out listening to the same music. Reggae music is the best genre of music that connects me with most of the significant people in my life such as my family, co-workers and friends. Bob Marley is my best reggae musician and his soundtrack “Three little birds” is my dearest music. This song talks about life and it is full of motivational massages. Anytime a family member, co-worker or friend(s) feels discouraged, we just put this song on it immediately changes the mood of that person as we all sing along to the music and this one way that we associate ourselves with this music.

I love this music because it is full of encouragement. I chose this image because the words in it are inspiring.

The type of student I am
I am a type of student who always try to solve difficult problems on my own. I also find it easy to stick to my aims and accomplish my goals. In times of difficulties, I am able to remain calm in order to regain my focus on the task at hand. When I encounter a problem that I can not solve on my own, I do not hesitate to ask for help.
I am very confident in everything that I do. As a student, my confident level is very high. This is because I do believe in myself and I am willing to ask for clarifications and ask questions on topics that I do not understand. One of the factors that can increase my confidence is setting myself up to win. Another factor is setting up an academic goal and coming up with ideas to achieve that goal.
My self-efficacy result shows how I always try to be the best I can be. Even though I do not have a perfect score on the self-efficacy test, I strive diligently to accomplish all my tasks. The result tells how confident I am and how prepared I am to find a solution to a problem.

The course objectives will help me in understanding the processes through which people perceive and attempt to understand others. The course objectives will also help me in knowing how attitudes change and form, and how they are related to behavior. The course objectives will help me understand the factors that influence our liking and how to form close relationships, our ability to make connections or integrate learning, between courses and to the outside experiences and the Procedures that social psychologists use to test hypothesis about the behavior of an individuals and of groups
These course objectives will help me in the future in many ways such as knowing the factors that influence our liking and how to form close relationships will help me form better relationships in the future. For instance, I will learn how to improve my communication skills to form better relationships after this course. To ensure my success in this course, I plan to follow the syllabus promptly and apply everything I learn in life. My hope in this course is to learn and understand how individual behaviors affect other people or groups.
From this assignment, I have learned a lot from both chapters. Cognitive processes sticks out to me the most. Most people use this process without even recognizing it. For example, I always lie when making phone calls about my current location. I will apply this cognitive process when making a decision on either someone is lying to me or the person is telling the truth.

I selected this Image because it is a visual representation of how people make connections and it also illustrates how social relationships are built.
