deciding
by Briel Felton
it took hours
to be okay enough
before sliding into skin
deciding
to walk with chin high
walk determined
& convicted breath
days
walking across eggshells
breaking the surface
drowning
in uncertainty
waiting for concrete
to sprout like
an orchid underwater
months
droning on
decision made
to love what is
& the mending
of chapped heart
it took years
to love
what’s in hardened casing
that crumbles
with slight breeze
of carefree flip of hair
& liquid tip of feminine hips
it is the skittish decision.
