Journal Entry #1

  1. Am I an entrepreneur?
    • At the moment, I am not an entrepreneur by definition. However, I hope to become one or at least gain insight into how to become one by the end of this class. I hope to start a cloud computing/storage business that provides cloud services and solutions to other businesses and organizations.
  2. What is success?
    • Success is different for everyone. It is up to everybody to define what success is to themselves. In a general aspect though, it is reaching goals and/or the impact made along the way. It does not always have to follow society’s definition of reaching fame or a certain amount of money, although that is always nice. Being able to reach your goal or set yourself on the path toward it is when you have a mindset of success.
  3. Am I a self-starter? How well do I follow through on my ideas?
    • I am a self-starter for most things, depending on how much incentive I see in the idea. However, I will admit that I tend to slack off if the payout of the idea does not seem to be there. I hope to do better in taking initiative in everything I do and following through for myself. I can see that I always come through for others, but I need to come through for me.
  4. How does ODU view entrepreneurship?
    • I think I overthought this question, but I believe that ODU, as well as most institutions, do not exactly care about entrepreneurship in their students. This class, however, seems to be a step in the right direction even for students who have not exactly experienced or thought about entrepreneurship. After coming across this class, I now see how there are open resources such as the Division of Entrepreneurship and Economic Development to help get students in touch with partners that will help them.
  5. What is my role in this ecosystem?
    • My role in this ecosystem is to learn what service I can provide while collaborating with others to reach common goals. No matter what the journey ahead may look like, I believe that everyone’s role in life is to serve, in any way shape or form. As long as we are able to make the world better or make life easier for someone, then we have fulfilled our role, or like I mentioned earlier, we are successful.
