Program Reflection

The LeADERS program at Old Dominion University bridges students to courses and real world experiences in the areas of Leadership, Academic Internship, Diversity, Entrepreneurship, Research, or Service Learning. This program has helped me to gain knowledge, skills and confidence.    This e-portfolio showcases my skills, talent and education  in the areas of  Leadership, Academic Internship, Diversity and writing Intensity. This experience has helped me as an individual  to become a better person in my personal life as well as on the job. There were many challenges I endured  throughout my time as a student at Old Dominion University. My senior year was a very trying time due to my health and being put on a heart monitor.  Even though I faced challenges with my health, the pandemic, and the loss of  loved ones I knew I had to stay focused. Not having the opportunity to fulfill my academic courses during this trying time and also completing my internship put me at a halt to fully fulfill my achievement. As I look back today and see how far I have come it puts a smile on my face knowing that my hard work wasn’t in vain.  This journey wasn’t easy but I can say today that I am proud of myself for not giving up due to my challenges that I had to overcome. This experience through the Leaders program, believing in myself, and staying focused on my goals  made things well worth it. Believing that education is meant to be learned and that you are never too old to learn and make a difference.  Reflecting has made me become more aware of my negative and how it was turned into a positive. Upon graduation I look forward in finding gainful employment in my field of study.
