I came to Old Dominion University in 2021 to study engineering. I decided to major in Mechanical Engineering Technology after my first semester and have been steadily working toward my degree since then. At the start of my sophomore year, I entered the Navy ROTC program at ODU and have been working toward commissioning as an officer when I graduate. Fluid mechanics is lending to my educational objectives not only because it fulfills a requirement for my degree, but also because it educates me in an important method of solving problems that I will be able to use in future engineering classes.<\/p>\n
Fluid mechanics is incredibly relevant to the Navy, which is where I want to work when I graduate. The majority of the Navy’s mission takes place at sea so many fluid mechanics concepts such as buoyancy and stability are very important for them. Fluid mechanics principles such as Bernoulli’s equation and fluid dynamics in pipes and fittings are also relevant to the reactors and power generators on the Navy’s ships and submarines.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
