WORKSHOP 1: Visual Representation of Your Research Project Proposal
OVERVIEW: Repko and Szostak often encourage us to be playful and creative with interdisciplinary research processes and data sets. What happens when we rearrange the data? What if we invert the equation? What do we discover if we represent the interdisciplinary research process (IRP) or data sets visually? How can a visual representation of our research process help to plan and fine-tune it? This assignment is designed to press your thinking and help you to begin addressing such questions and thinking about the major steps of your research plan. This assignment is worth 100 points. This is the first of four Workshop grades, which constitute 25% of your final course grade.
Workshop 1 guidelines:
- Include all 10 steps of the STEPS IRP model (Textbook: Table 3.1, p. 77).
- Label/explain/describe all 10 steps, so they clearly correspond to the 10-STEPS IRP model.
- Include your proposed research question, disciplines, and other details at each step of the 10-STEP research process.
- Employ colors, symbols, images, and graphic design techniques in your layout. For example, you may use any media, e.g., computer drawing programs, hand-drawn/painted images, or photography.
