WORKSHOP 2: Data Table of Insights & References
There are two parts to this literature review assignment.
- Based on Table 5.1 (p. 144) of the textbook, create a table of five scholarly (peer-reviewed) research resources you’ll read this week as you conduct your Term paper research. In the chart, address all 8 categories for each of your five sources.
- On the same page(s), underneath your chart, list an APA bibliographic citation for each of your five research references.
Additional guidelines:
- To save time, use the Library Resource links provided on the syllabus and sync your Google Scholar searches to the ODU Library archives.
- Under Thesis, I recommend using a direct quote (the author’s own words). End each entry with the page numbers in parenthetical citations: (p. 177).
- It’s easy to mix up Key Concepts and Phenomena, so carefully read to understand to what these two columns correspond. Check the textbook index and Google these terms if you need clarification.
- Method refers to methodology, not publication type. For example, a “journal article” isn’t a research method. For more information, see pages 62-68.
- Empty columns indicate you didn’t complete the assignment. The Bias column is the only one that may or may not include content.
- It’s not a problem if you end up using other articles in your final research project. This assignment gets the research ball rolling.
- Attach your table as a Word or Google document, a PowerPoint slide, Excel Spreadsheet, or some other format that the professor can open with conventional software. If you write the table by hand, make sure it’s legible.
