WORKSHOP 3: Identifying Conflicting Insights<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

OVERVIEW:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This Workshop assignment helps you to detect significant differing or conflicting points among your research findings. This exercise also helps you to identify critical quotes you may wish to include in your research paper, and practice writing APA in-text and bibliographic citations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

DIRECTIONS:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Create a Word document.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. On the top line, state your research question as a question (chances are your research question has evolved; show LaFever the most current and highly developed iteration of your research question). <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Under your research question, create a table based on Table 9.2 on p. 247. Label two columns: \u201cDiscipline\u201d and \u201cInsight of the Author.\u201d In column one, list the discipline. In column two, list a direct quote or paraphrase each key disciplinary insight you’ll include in your paper. Include an in-text citation for each (see Table 9.2).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Include a minimum of five scholarly sources\/authors and three different disciplines<\/strong>. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. Under your table, list a correct APA citation for each reference. List your references in alphabetical order by author’s last name. See APA guidelines to make certain your references are listed in the correct format.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  6. Attach this assignment as a Word document on the \u201cAssignment\u201d link.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    1. You may use the same and\/or new references from the #2 Workshop.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    2. Use scholarly and peer-reviewed research resources. You will lose credit if you include blogs or other popular news sources unless you have permission to do so (if need be, check with LaFever about the suitability of a resource. If you were given permission to use non-scholarly resources, please note that on the line after your research question).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    3. Use appropriate disciplines and narrow the disciplines as much as possible. For example, could you use management<\/em> instead of business<\/em>? Avoid closely associated disciplines, such as anthropology and cultural anthropology (use the latter). As we\u2019ve discussed in previous assignments, don\u2019t use humanities<\/em>, social sciences<\/em>, coaching<\/em>, or teamwork<\/em>, which aren\u2019t disciplines.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    4. Use the APA 7th<\/sup> edition style manual (see the APA cheat sheet I\u2019ve provided on our Canvas website). <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
