After some research on the job titles given in the above article, two in particular piqued my interest. These were digital forensics analysts and ethical hackers. Not only are these unique and fulfilling job positions but are also meeting the needs of our society.
Each of these falls under the realm of computer science (Hamilton). Protecting data, integrating policies, and developing secure software are all disciplines that are represented in the given jobs (8 Specializations That Define Successful Cybersecurity Organizations). Naturally, many cover even more than this. For example, cybersecurity lawyers protect data and individuals by following written laws (Synytska). These titles often have disciplines represented that were previously stated, but specifics do come with each position.
Both digital forensics and ethical hacking require some skills prior to beginning the job. One has to be able to evaluate logically and have a desire to learn new things (Krakoff). More specifically, one should have programming and computer networking knowledge to be able to more easily advance in the field (GeeksforGeeks). To summarize, having critical thinking skills along with basic computer knowledge in the beginning to essential to being successful in this branch of work.
The route for ethical hackers was rather surprising. The fact that organizations look for people with this very specific skill set to help protect their data structure was amazing to hear (GeeksforGeeks). Additionally, while researching other cybersecurity careers, the amount of different jobs that all fall under a similar field was interesting to read.
