Nursing

I chose to be a nurse because I want to be an advocate in the health care system. Over quarantine, I researched about black maternal mortality rate and found it very interesting. I knew about racial bias in the medical field but never knew how bad it affected people of color. This all made me want to be a labor and delivery nurse and hopefully a nurse practitioner focusing on women’s health.

At the moment I do not have any experience in my desired field but I do hope to be able to shadow nurses at my OB/GYN practice over the summer. I also want to see if I can possibly look into any jobs at the nearby hospitals in Norfolk.
