\u00a0First Semester<\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n

I feel as if I have grown a lot from this semester. I learned very much about myself and how much I can handle when it comes to coursework. Honestly, I had low expectations coming into this year, I was nervous about my study habits and how to acclimate to this new college environment. I wish I knew how to stand up for myself and be more vocal about when I needed help. Being vocal is something I’ve always struggled with. While I tried being vocal, I should’ve been more vocal and not settled as I feel like this hurt me towards the end of the semester.<\/p>\n

Study Habits<\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n

I spend about a few hours studying for class now compared to the beginning of the semester when I would only study right before a test. I implemented a new study method towards the end of the semester called active recall which I feel has helped a lot. This method really helped me make sure that I don\u2019t only memorize the material but learn it as well. I learned about the tutoring opportunities they have at this school that I plan to use in the future, especially for my upcoming math course<\/p>\n

Health Professions Learning Community<\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n

These courses are very much tied together, I can\u2019t say anything for HIST 104H, but for Chemistry and Sociology, they talk a lot about the healthcare system. I learned about discrimination and how that can affect the healthcare community while in chemistry I learned about why It\u2019s needed to be a healthcare professional. One is more practical and the other helps you make sure everyone gets equal care.<\/p>\n

Parallel Plan<\/strong><\/p>\n

I\u2019m very interested in recreational therapy and exercise science, and even though no one from exercise came to talk to us, I went out a researched it after we spoke about recreational therapy. I love how recreational therapy helps many with disabilities, as someone who has a disabled person in my family that means a lot to me. For exercise science, I have always been interested in physical therapy as well, and I can use an exercise science degree to go into a master’s program in physical therapy. With exercise science degrees you can still use it to help still go into nursing, I had talked with my success coach who told me that she had a previous student that used her exercise science degree to be a respiratory nurse.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
