I have been in an online sport communication class for about three months now, and I have had a lot of fun with it to be honest. I didn’t think making this sport journal or any of the assignments regarding finding a mentor would be fun, but looking back I was thinking too hard about it. This class opened my eyes to a new side of communication. We did an assignment where we had to create something with a little help from our mentor’s in which I created a social media internship strategy that I will probably recreate in the future to help me get a paid internship or even build a portfolio for a job. That was probably the most fun and creative thing we did, and it taught me patience when it came to creating the graphics and things not looking right. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I want to work in social media, so the Game Report entry we did was interesting as we learned that how you describe a game can change the way a fan may experience it. You are basically in charge of how the story gets told and the emotions of the people reading it. To be successful, you cant just report the scores, it’s the details, the calls, the reactions from fans and coaches. This will help me in the future when I am telling a story for a professional team one day through their social media. In the end, this course helped me build my skills to enter into a sport media\/communication internship, and one day the work force. I feel confident I can continue to build on my content creation, critical thinking, and creative skills to become the best person for the job. This class helped solidify my choice to work in sports and sparked more excitement to get into the field. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
