I’m currently pursuing a nursing major at Old Dominion University, which was a career I chose for deeply personal reasons. My grandparents were both nurses in Honduras, and they always dreamed of me following in their footsteps. Unfortunately, due to the language barrier and the challenges they faced after moving to the U.S., they were unable to continue their nursing careers here. Despite this, they made countless sacrifices for my brother and me, giving up everything to provide us with opportunities they never had.
Although I don’t have much professional experience in nursing yet, I’ve always had a nurturing personality and a natural tendency to take care of those around me, whether it’s friends, family, or even strangers in need. Nursing feels like a calling to me, and I would love to continue the legacy of my grandparents by helping others in the same way they always wanted to. The desire to make a meaningful impact on people’s lives is something I’ve carried with me from a young age, and I’m excited to develop my skills further as I work toward becoming a nurse.
