Thielbar made quick work of the first inning with two flyouts and a strikeout to wrap up the top of the first. The Cubs took the lead at the bottom of the first with Conforto singling to center, Horner scored and Swanson to 3rd SF 0, CHC 1. After a pitching change where Blade Tidwell replaced Landen Roupp, Dansby Swanson led off with a triple in the bottom of the fourth inning, Ballesteros grounded out to second leading to Swanson scoring SF 0, CHC 2. The Giants came in swinging at the top of the fifth, Daniel Susac hits a double on a fly ball to center after a ground out Parks Harber homers on a fly ball, Daniel Susac scores SF 2, CHC 2. Cubs make quick work of the fifth inning, Michael Busch singles and after Nico Horner walks Busch moves to 2nd. Dansby Swanson doubles on a line drive, Michael Bush scores and Nico Horner to 3rd. Moises Ballesteros singles on a line drive to right field, Nico Hoerner and Dansby Swanson score, SF 2, CHC 5. Unfortunately for the Cubs that was the last scoring play of the game for them, the Giants hit three homers in the sixth inning bringing the score to SF 6 CHC 5. The Giants topped off their winning game with another home and two more score in the top of the eighth inning brining the final score to SF 9, CHC 5. While the cubs couldn’t get the win today, they were able to score more successful ABS challenges. Ballesteros and Bush both successful in their ABS challenges, with Busch’s scoring a single in the same at bat that he challenged. I think we will be seeing more and more use of these challenges which is a welcome addition to the game, I hope to see more players utilize the challenge system during spring training so that once the season starts players feel comfortable making these challenges during stressful or high-tension games. The cubs are scheduled off Monday but will resume their schedule on Tuesday afternoon against the Rangers, the last meeting the Cubs lost 3-2 and are looking for another W to add to their stats.

The Cubs who took an early lead in the game seemed to falter and lose their way after their last scoring play in the bottom of the fifth.
