The United States is one of the most talked about countries in the world. There’s the joke/stereotype that Americans can be dumb and gullible to everything, and that results in the United States being one of, if not the most targeted countries for cyberattacks. As a result of the United States being targeted constantly, most companies required cybersecurity training for their employees. These trainings help trainees learn how to tell when an email/ message is a scam (phishing), develop plans for any future attacks, and having constant support from employees.
Compare to Japan, the United States isn’t as advanced in technology. However, this year, Japan’s cyberattack rates have doubled in the last years. Japan hasn’t been up to par with their advancements in technology and hackers have been taking advantage of that. In 2021, a hospital in Shikoku suffered a ransomware attack, which prevents access to computers and electronics. This can be scary as medical forms and information can be taken from hundreds of patients. Another cybersecurity risk is fraud, which both countries suffer with. Japan has a higher rate for fraud in older adults, as older adults tend to be more gullible when it comes to fraud/ phishing.
