Your First Semester
At the beginning of the semester I was nervous and anxious. Now I have grown into a more confident and independent person. My expectations for this year was to be very busy and have a hard time getting rest. These expectations were very accurate. I have to balance school and a sport. I wish I knew how hard it would be to get a washer and dryer in the dorm rooms.
Study Habits
At the beginning of the semester I would spend about the same amount of time studying as I do now. I have a study hall at least 8 hours a week so I have plenty of time to do school work. So I study about the same as I did the first semester. My study habits have greatly improved and I’m able to create my own unique ways to remember material. I have used tutoring and office hours that have greatly helped me that I believe will continue to help me next semester. I will be using a lot of the same study techniques like note taking and reviewing after each class.
Health Professions Learning Community
The courses I took this semester were extremely intertwined with each other. My Soc 201 class was learning about people and how to benefit from understanding why others do what they do. This tied into all my other classes that are looking and digging deeper into the nursing curriculum. In order to be a good nurse you must be aware that those people you are taking care of are struggling with something. You have to take a step back and realize there is a reason why they do what they do.
Parallel Plan
I’m most interested in Nuclear medicine and nurse anesthesiologist. I am very interested in these classes due to the similarities they both have for helping people and gaining knowledge. They also have more options in their treatment plan then other health care professionals. Having a parallel plan can help you discover other passions in the healthcare world. It also helps you find what you love to do. Both of these majors could help with my intended major by giving me a stronger understanding of the human body, its anatomy and physiology.
