SPAN 101

Interpretive, Interpersonal, and Presentational Modes of Communication

Since starting this class I went from knowing just a little bit of Spanish to now being able to do my numbers, understand questions being asked in Spanish and being able to answer back. Obviously it just the basics but it is a start into the right direction. I know my numbers, being able to say my name, age, where I am from. I am able to say different adjectives to describe someone. I can ask someone how they are doing. I did feel that I had a lot of challenges when it came to remembering everything when it came time to take a quiz or test. More or less with remembering the correct ending to a question. With more studying and talking in Spanish it will be come more familiar. I did feel that I did pretty good on my oral exam with my professor. When I would have a challenge with not knowing something I would go back and read what I learned about it and take some notes down to help me remember for next time.

Engaging in Communities

I will be able to use what I have learned to help me engage in conversations with workers at my dads job, and when I hire people to work at my full time job. I am not able to have full on conversations yet but that is the end goal.

Interpersonal Communication

This semester we used flip grid and discussion boards to have conversations with our peers. It was a fun and interesting way when using flip gird. I am not a huge fan of discussion boards but the topics that the professor had us use were entertaining.

Above is one of the examples of us using flip grid. We were not able to use notes to answer the questions back and forth with our professor. At first I was nervous it was going to be really hard. But I did studying to make sure I understood what I needed to answer before uploading my final draft.

Presentational Speaking

As far as presentational speaking goes I would say that our oral exams would be when we had to present our selves. I don’t have a recording of me doing that. The first one I was really nervous but she gave us a good idea of what was going to be asked of us. Last night I took my final oral exam and I messed up a few times but I was happy with how I overcame it and was able to figure it out.
