Interpretive, Interpersonal, and Presentational Modes of Communication
Address the reflection exercises in each of the following sections. For each section, you will need to embed portions of these assignments and activities as artifacts to substantiate your reflection. Then, at the end of each section, include a link to the document or embed it as a PDF.
Tutorials are available:
- Embedding a PDF
- Embedding Media (Images, Audio)
- Embedding a Video
An Effective Reflection Is
- Written in English.
- A demonstration, explanation, comparison of skill and growth described through what you learned and the challenges you had in that learning while highlighting your best work.
- A discussion of how you overcame any weakness or obstacles. Explain what you mean.
- Supported by evidence as represented by your artifacts (course materials, photographs, video, conversations, projects, news reports, authentic materials, etc.).
- Specific, addressing particular strengths, weakness, skills, transformative experiences, etc., avoiding vague generalizations (ex: “I learned a lot.”).
An Effective Reflection is not
- Only sharing an artifact without context or discussion.
- Only a description or explanation of an artifact. Focus on your learning and growth as a result of having completed that experience.
- An attempt to justify your work to an instructor. Instead, think more broadly about future audiences that might benefit from seeing evidence of your work and the skills you are developing.
Artifacts
A good artifact is a portion or clip of an assignment. It needs to be carefully selected to provide evidence/proof that supports what you are saying in your reflection.
Your reflection will help you determine what that will be. It is a quest for quality. It will represent you academically and professionally, and have personal meaning. It can be written, audio, or video.
At the end, ask yourself if the artifacts best demonstrates your abilities and growth over time.
At the end of your reflection in each section, link or embed the assignment/artifact. If the assignment has multiple pages and seems to overwhelm the section, consider adding just the first page and offering to provide the rest upon request.

Interpersonal Communication
I had to do pruebas through out the modules. I had a weird time with hearing my self talking back. I was so weirded out by this. I did not have an easy time with this, becuase I knew I was saying some things wrong, but I did not know how to say the things right.
Presentational Speaking
My first speaking assignment was the Entrevista 1. I think I did fairly well with this assignment.
I feel like I did ok on this assignment I was very nervous. I did not even do the assignment at home. I did it before I left work for the day so my son would not be in the background making noise. My strong suite was telling of time and my age.
Presentational Writing
I was instructed to type 2 or 3 sentences of discussion board posts in spanish. This for me was hard. To go from Spanish and then English threw me for a loop.
This is a photo of my family. This is my husband, my son, and myself. My favorite relative was my cousin, John. I do not have a photo of him due to him having passed away almost 5 years ago. We were inseperable. We were raised more as brother and sister than cousins. My favorite story that I have between my cousin and I is how when we were younger maybe 11 or 12, we would roll each other down the hill in an old dryer drum. Normally we would accidentally push the other towards a tree or stump. As of today I have 5 cousins that are alive. I am currently married and I have one son. We do not plan to have any more. We are thankful for our healthy little man who is now 4.
Tengo uno hermanos menors. Mi familia es pequena.
Above is the discussion board that I wrote for Module 3. I wrote about my family.
Interpretive Listening
My first Interpretive Listening was the correction of my audio of the alphabet. I realized I was not pronouncing the words right at all.
I was able to hear numerous videos for the quizzes. This allowed me the ability to hear the words and hear the pronunciation correctly. I was also able to hear my instructor and classmates on a variety of cases. The hardest portion that I had with this assignment was how people who fully have the dialect speak the language so fast. I would have to start and stop recordings in numerous places. The most fascinating part was how other classmates in which I would normally not see and I were able to communicate on a one-on-one basis. We were also able to tell each other a little about ourselves. https://www.google.com/search?q=recording+of+spanish+alphabet&rlz=1C1GGRV_enUS773US794&oq=recording+of+spanish+&aqs=chrome.0.0j69i57j0l6.4452j0j1&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8#kpvalbx=_2wJ9X_emDbWlytMPj_6DqA817
Interpretive Reading
I liked to read the articles or clippings of spanish magizines. They are alot different than the English ones that I read.
Some of the articles are harder to understand due to their spacing and how you read in a various order. It took time for me to realize how to read the various items and understand them. The photos for me were the best part. They were the first thing that caught my eye. With each assignment i have been able to understand more and more written spanish sentences.
