When I came into UNIV 150 I knew that my writing needed some needed improvements. Through my first eleven week in this course, it has made me more aware of what college professors want in a paper, and how to be a successful college student. It has also made me more aware of what a good paper looks like and how to write one. I believe that I have made an improvement throughout this first part of the semester. I have firstly made an improvement through the way that I write essays, such as the way that I am more confident in writing them. I also know how to format the perfect five paragraph essay with all the correct parts and pieces. The book we are reading for class, The Transition to College Writing, has also helped by explaining to me want college is really like. It has shown me the differences between a successful college student and someone that struggles in college. The book has taught that high school has prepared me for a mythical college and does not actually prepare student for what college is like. This book has also has helped me by telling me what mistakes college student have made; and it has shown me how to eliminate these mistakes and write the best possible essays. Something that I would like to improve on is how I revise my papers before turning them in. I have noticed that many of the mistakes that I made on my previous paper could have been easily corrected by revising it. For my future papers I plan to read over it multiple times in my head then read it aloud, this will help me catch any mistake I have made previously. This class has helped to become a better writer and college student with what it has taught me so far. I hope to continue improving on my writing and learn more about being the best college student.
