Self-regulation and Emotional intelligence go hand and hand, it is interconnected. Emotional intelligence gives one a better understanding of what their emotions are so that they can choose how they want to respond in a situation. Self- regulation is when one is aware of their emotions, with the ability to control and regulate them. It provides a chance to make conscious and rational choices by separating feelings from judgments.  I actively try to regulate my emotions when I am triggered so that I do not end up making decisions with permanent outcomes over temporary issues. When I am upset I pause and ask myself why am I feeling this way? What role did I play?  I also try to see things from an objective view point. However, I think I can improve by learning how to not react so quickly. Mastering self-regulation and emotional intelligence will prompt me to have a more peaceful life.
