
Selfishness and happiness are rarely perceived as going together because people who are selfish gain happiness for a limited time. You would think that someone who is selfish is happier than anyone else because they care about themselves and do things to satisfy themselves, but in reality, selfishness can cause a lot of stress and frustration. Selfless people gain satisfaction from helping some other individuals. Many people gain satisfaction from giving to others whether it be physically or emotionally and they are their own source of happiness. Although one may be doing someone else a service, playing a part in a positive change or their happiness can be very rewarding. By participating in the Are People Who Help Happier activity I was able to my initial thoughts with actual results.
