The course met my expectations in that it was rich with research and studies conducted by and across cultures worldwide. As far as the course objectives, I certainly feel that I am better acquainted with the psychological research and findings that examine how culture and psychology influence one another, cultural diversity itself, and how my own perception is colored by my cultural experience. I have also gained a new appreciation for the complexity and delicacy of constructing cross cultural studies, particularly the many misatributional fallacies that can be made if all facets are not properly considered.
Were I to take the class again, I would not have dismissed my inability to locate the textbook on blackboard, which led me to take the first two exams without the benefit of the text. I would also try to compensate for my executive dysfunction with more stringent attention paid to details, as the points lost due to careless oversight of small details have accumulated.
I have grown a lot academically as a result of this class, but particularly regarding accountability towards my own mistakes. In the past, I have made excuses to myself and my professors regarding careless errors and misunderstandings on my part, but I have come to a greater understanding that they stem from my own poor habits, habits which will only change through concerted effort and unflinching accountability.
