TA5
The last artifact I chose was from module 9. Its about the different things men and women seek in significant others. Men are more concerned with how attractive a woman is, and women are looking more for financial stability. For this module, the task was to look at different ads on craigslist for trends on what each gender looks for. I found that men were looking for younger beautiful women, and women were looking for older rich males. I think this is because men stereotypical think and desire having sex more. When they go online they are trying to find someone they are attractive and interested in hooking up. Women however, they want someone who can take care of them financially. They my even use their looks to attractive older men willing to provide for them. It was interesting to go online and see these big trends amongst genders.
For my visual image I have created a table on the three things men and women look for in a significant other.

The next artifact I chose is from module 14. It is an assignment based on 4 questions asking about your level of happiness. You rate on a scale from 1 to 7 on if your happy, compared to peers how happy are you, do you enjoy life even during the hard times, and if your not depressed why do you seem not as happy as you can be. I scored a little bit above average for my peer group of college students, meaning i’m happier than others in college. The powerpoint that corresponds to this module states several things you can do to help improve your happiness. Working out, working out with others, joining clubs, and practicing self forgiveness are a couple of examples on ways to improve happiness. I think I ranked slightly higher than my peers for this activity because I already implement several of these examples into my everyday life. I workout, joined a few clubs, and was already in the process of trying to improve my mental health by practicing self love. I included this artifact because helping others with ways to improve happiness through simple life changes is important.
I chose this for my visual because I think a photo of puppies is a perfect example of a picture that encompasses happiness.
TA3
I chose to do another top artifact from module 11. We had to write down the names of 10 people we know and state wether they are happy or un happy. Also, we had to state if they are a selfish or unselfish person. For my activity I found the more people who were happy, were also unselfish. The idea behind this activity was to show an example of prosocial behavior. That is behavior that benefits other people or society as a whole. Examples include helping, sharing, donating, co-operating, and volunteering. Typically, people that are happier in life are most selfless. This is because it feels good to help others. People find satisfaction in helping others that can help reduce negative feelings. Also, helping other people can bring meaning to someones life causing them to be happier in general. I chose to include this artifact because I think its important to be aware of the effects of helping people. Anything that can help bring happiness to a persons life is important.
In the image it shows a man helping an old lady cross the street, next to a woman standing while an old man crosses the street by himself. The man helping the old lady shows both of them smiling, while the woman and old man are both frowning. This can show selfless behavior can cause happiness.
TA2
I chose to do an artifact from module 7. It starts with answering a survey wether you agree or disagree with things such as homelessness is a serious problem, or recycling is a great way to protect the environment. After, you take another survey stating yes or no for completing the following questions. I have personally done something to address the homelessness problem or I regularly recycle to protect the environment. I think this is a good assignment because it can be a wake up call. I answered I agree to most of the questions that reflected the need to help people, the environment, and etc. However, when taking the next survey asking if I have done anything to help all of these problems the answer was yes to only half. This is an example of cognitive dissonance. It is the mental discomfort experienced by a person who simultaneously holds two or more contradictory beliefs, ideas, or values. I think this assignment is important because it can cause people to practice what they preach. It is easy to say we need to recycle, but actually following the steps can be a challenge for most.
The visual image is two booths, one stating comforting lies and the other stating unpleasant truths. All of the people are lined up behind the comforting lies booth. This shows when we go through cognitive dissonance it is easier to lie to ourselves to make us feel better, compared to facing the truth and changing.
TA1
I chose an artifact from module 5. It was all about self enhancement in different scenarios. There were six prompts and you had to give examples for self and other enhancements in each situation. Self enhancement is when you try to present yourself in a positive way. This artifact was one of my favorites because it applies directly into everyones everyday life. We meet so many people and are in different scenarios throughout each day it is important to be able to present yourself in the best light you can. One of the prompts was for meeting your new boss for the first time. A self enhancement you can do is regulate your speech. It is important to speak to your boss in a professional manor and not use everyday slang you would with your friends. Another enhancement you can do in this scenario is with your outfit choice. Choosing a clean and professional outfit can give off the vibe you showed up ready to work. I recently started a new job and tried these techniques when I met my boss for the first time. I chose this as my favorite artifact because it applies to me the most in life. I try to be aware of how i’m presenting myself to people in every situation to make a good impression.
My visual representation is a picture of people wearing proper work outfits. All of the people in the picture above are dressed appropriately to give a good first impression to a new boss.
