After rereading my first blog post, I can agree my initial expectations and the outcome were very similar. I have gained a better understanding about the behavior of individuals and of any groups. While taking this class I’ve learned to better myself and to communicate with others as well. During the summer, I was able to use my professional knowledge during work. Reviewing the objective of this course, I’m able to discuss the processes through which people perceive and attempt to understand other so I can to make connections, or integrate learning, between courses and to outside experiences. My attitude towards Social Psychology has changed by becoming more understanding to people’s thoughts. I’ve become more curious to people’s behaviors.

Taking this class, I’ve noticed that my confidence has gone up. I feel more comfortable now that I’ve taking an online class. I feel like I’m prepared for the future online class that I may take.

If I took this class over again, I would try to start a study group because I know that can help students by learning from one another. One way that I’ve grown academically is being more proactive with the due dates. Having the schedule and checking off what was completed kept me on track. One skill that I’ve gained from this course is being able to multitask. Working a full-time job and getting my assignments in on time has shown me that I can do It. I’ve enjoyed taking this class.

So far in this course, I have learned a lot about social psychology. The top 3 things that I have learned so far are Social psychology. Which is the scientific study of the behavior and of the individual affected by other people and groups. I learned more about the understanding about the behavior of individuals and of any groups and also how useful it is to learn about social psychology because we use it everyday life with professional relationships or personal relationships with others. During Module 9 artifact, I liked this artifact because I got the chance to research the difference in what men and women look for in a partner. Many men look for younger women who are physically attractive. Women typically look for men who are financially stable and who can treat women with respect. It was interesting to see the difference in women and men. We think very differently than the opposite sex. One thing that I have learned in this course and my human cognition course is doing all of the surveys, experiments, and the videos help you understand the material better.

I like this picture because throughout this semester, I took these steps to understand the material.

It was interesting to learn about the different sexual conflicts that both men and women have. It’s interesting to read about the three different stages that one may find sexual conflict. I’ve been in a good amount of relationship to understand that each conflict may happen. It’s very common for one to try to engage in stalking activity after a breakup or during a relationship. I believe with men, they are typically upset when a woman takes to long, or is indecisive about where to eat, whereas women are upset with men about the importance of spending time together or showing effort. Women are more practical overall.

I have a hard time deciding choices to make in life. This can easily upset my friend.
I choose this quote as my picture because some effort is better than no effort. If women see that men are putting in some effort, it can be better for the relationship.

Emotional Intelligence is the emotions that come from within that we recognize and Self Regulation is our ability to keep emotions in check and not engage in impulsive behavior that may make the situations worse. Emotional Intelligence to me means that I’m capable of recognizing my own emotions, emotions of other people, and being able to control and express myself accordingly. My example of EQ is that I’m currently working at McDonald’s for the summer to earn extra money for school in the fall. I usually work in the drive-thru in the window. Sometimes customers have to wait and they can be very impatient and rude. I have to take deep breaths and apologize for the wait. Even though sometimes it does not work, I continue to think positive.

I received a 100/200 for my EQ Test

After watching “Still Killing Us Softly” video on YouTube, I was not surprised by what the speaker, Jean Kilbourne were bringing up. Prior to this video, I was aware of how ads distort, stereotype, and dehumanize women and manipulate people to buy their products. In the video, Kilbourne talked about how women are accepted into the world if they are young, thin and carefully groomed. She also brought up that 1/5 college-age students have eating disorders. Many women do believe that they are overweight or their age. this sad that society is putting advertisements out into the world that praises gender sexism. Not only do ads do this to women, but also men. As a community, I believe that men and women need to come together and love one another.

Dying to be Barbie- This ad expresses how women are trying to have a small waist like the children’s doll “Barbie.” This is relevant because there are many individuals that have eating disorders. Which it could lead to death.

Are you beach body ready?- This ad expresses that to go to the beach you have to be small and petite like the lady in the ad. This ad is relevant because as humans, we all have many different body sizes. Being small and petite does not mean your beach body ready. It sends a negative message to people who are not that size.

Budweiser. This ad focuses on how women are supposed to have this role of cooking, cleaning, and house work. Back then, that was more common but now it’s descending as a female because we should work as well as men should work too. This ad is relevant because women are more busy now than ever so bringing food home, or going out to dinner is more common.

Simple Flawless A professional Makeup Masterclass- This ad focuses on women and how we should wear it often because it says “Simple flawless.” Many women believe that makeup enhances those sex differences so that is why they may tend to wear it. This ad is important because it expresses that the amount of makeup one may put on is simply flawless.

Baby Ballerina- This ad expresses gender roles because it portrays that if your a little girl, you should want to be a ballerina when you grow older. Although males learn ballet, society views it as a female origin of dance. This is relevant because this ad is very sexist.

Picture A definitely represents a credible advertisement because it is sponsored by a Barbaric Surgeon. I feel if someone in the health profession that supports a procedure on surgery would be someone of great trustworthiness. In addition, this ad adds that this is a team of experierenced members to assist in the jorney of losing weight.

Picture B is about an ad of Hillary Clinton which is not credible because the ad was sponsored by her Republican opponent, Donald Trump. Regardless of their different political views, this demeaning ad and name calling were extremely unprofessional and childlike. In my opinion, the ad was created to demoralize Hillary Clinton. Therefore, it is a non- credible ad.

This ad represents an attractive source because the ad for Ray-Ban sunglasses is worn by our 44th president of the United States of America, Barack Obama. Even though I do not own a pair of Ray-bans sunglasses, they are very popular and look great on him. There is nothing in this ad that states or suggests that Ray Bans are better sunglasses however the mere fact is that our past president is spotted wearing a pair is proof enough.

Preparing for this exam was a challenge that I was up for. To start with, I utilized the review sheet/study guide that was offered and answered each question one by one. The review sheet helped me since I was able to review all of the old material that I had learned. Then after that, I went to review some of the PowerPoints of topics that I needed to learn more about. I found that using the PowerPoints and my own notes helped me understand the topics more. I was able to summarize in my own words. It definitely helped me to space out my studying days because cramming isn’t beneficial. Now that I’m reflecting back, I would like to be able to teach what I learned to someone.

When studying, I use different color highlighters and sticky notes for definitions (Like this photo). The end results turns out to be very colorful! I love it

After reading Soul Meets Body, I agree that there is a connection between the music that we listen to and relationships. Music is truly important in our lives. It gives us a way to express ourselves and countless benefits to it. Music creates memories with others to build bonds. I have noticed that I actually connect more with the people who listen to the same genre of music as me. For every song that I love, it’s a deeper meaning behind it and sharing that with someone is honestly special. It creates future discussions to share. With each of my friends, we bond over different genres during a possible car ride, preparing for an event, or to possibly get in a better mood than before.

The type of student that I trust I am is someone that believes she will succeed in her goals to be successful. I learned that I’m a quiet and creative student. Usually, I’m working outside of class to finish my projects or in the library studying. In college, I like to be alone on most days. I’m easily distracted so having others around will influence me to stop working. As a college student, I have to understand that I will succeed in my goals so I have the motivation to do. In order to increase my confidence levels, I could practice every day at my skill to get better and not compare myself to others. My overall self-efficacy results were 100% (100% being believe in my ability & ability to grow with effort). This accurately explains that I confidence level in self-efficacy is high and I’m confident I will be successful one day.

I choose this picture because it represents my results from the self-efficacy. Each of the responses show 100% for each question.

Social Psychology!

These are a few concepts of Social Psychology. I used this photo because it was interesting to visual learn everything that is social psychology.

https://risetoshinetoday.org/social-psychology-3/

In the first chapter I learned that Social psychology is the scientific study of the behavior of the individual as affected by other people and groups. Learning the course objectives, I will gain a better understanding about the behavior of individuals and of any groups. It’s useful to learn about social psychology because we use it everyday life with professional relationships or personal relationships with others. This will be my first online class from ODU but I’m intrigued to learn more about individuals so that I’m able to better myself and communicate better with others. Social Psychology can be applied anywhere which is why it is important. I hope to gain knowledge and one day spread my knowledge to others. In order to be successful in this course I will plan ahead to complete all assignments before the deadlines. I will discipline myself to study smart. Rewriting the notes, meeting with classmates, and asking questions will be beneficial to be successful in the course. It is important for me to know that Professor Muth is always willing to clarify any questions that I may have in the future of the course. I’m looking forward to learning!
