{"id":327,"date":"2021-04-28T22:01:00","date_gmt":"2021-04-28T22:01:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.wp.odu.edu\/byeab001\/?p=327"},"modified":"2021-04-28T22:01:01","modified_gmt":"2021-04-28T22:01:01","slug":"eportfolio-entry-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.wp.odu.edu\/byeab001\/2021\/04\/28\/eportfolio-entry-2\/","title":{"rendered":"ePortfolio entry #2"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>1.Select four other majors offered by ODU and explain how those majors relate to cybersecurity.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Old Dominion&nbsp;University&nbsp;offers&nbsp;its students a variety of majors&nbsp;to study,&nbsp;whether&nbsp;it may be online or in person.&nbsp;As a cybersecurity major, I see that there are some major that Odu offers that relates to cybersecurity, and those are computer science, criminal justice, information technology, and&nbsp;computer engineering.&nbsp;These majors&nbsp;are in a way part of&nbsp;cybersecurity,&nbsp;for example, Computer science&nbsp;is a broad field that involves the study of computing and computers in this instance cybersecurity can be considered a new subfield of computer science because cybersecurity&nbsp;specialists&nbsp;require&nbsp;a deep understanding of computers and networks to analyze and prevent any data breaches and attacks&nbsp;and to add to that cybersecurity deals with computers and so does computer science. The next one is&nbsp;criminal justice, although it may not deal with computers&nbsp;directly&nbsp;criminal justice&nbsp;is the delivery of justice to those who have committed crimes.&nbsp;Just like criminal justice, the&nbsp;main idea of cybersecurity is&nbsp;the protection of computer systems and networks&nbsp;from&nbsp;information disclosure, theft of or damage to&nbsp;software, hardware, or electronic data, as well as from the disruption of&nbsp;services. The next one on the list is information technology, it&nbsp;is the study or use of systems for storing, retrieving, and spending information.&nbsp;Although&nbsp;cybersecurity&nbsp;deals with protecting data from&nbsp;internet&nbsp;hacks and&nbsp;hacker&#8217;s&nbsp;information&nbsp;technology&nbsp;is&nbsp;the overarching process that covers how&nbsp;company&nbsp;data is handled daily, and both are in the business of protecting people from cybercriminals. The last one is&nbsp;computer engineering, which is at the heart of many cybersecurity organizations.&nbsp;Computer engineering is a branch of engineering that integrates several fields of computer&nbsp;science and electronic engineering required to develop computer hardware and software.
