{"id":331,"date":"2021-04-28T22:03:16","date_gmt":"2021-04-28T22:03:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.wp.odu.edu\/byeab001\/?p=331"},"modified":"2021-04-28T22:03:17","modified_gmt":"2021-04-28T22:03:17","slug":"eportfolio-entry-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.wp.odu.edu\/byeab001\/2021\/04\/28\/eportfolio-entry-3\/","title":{"rendered":"ePortfolio entry #3"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>1.<strong>&nbsp;Describe four ethical issues that arise when storing electronic information about individuals<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We have come a long way in\u00a0terms of storing information about\u00a0individuals.\u00a0We went from storing information on paper to storing it\u00a0electronically\u00a0in\u00a0computers, phones, and all sorts of smart\u00a0technologies.\u00a0This transition of storing information from paper to\u00a0electronics\u00a0has\u00a0many benefits such as\u00a0electronic information storage is more\u00a0efficient;\u00a0it allows you to maintain records while occupying less\u00a0physical\u00a0storage space.\u00a0Storing electronic information is secure, and it protects data.\u00a0It allows better visibility, and it can easily be accessed.\u00a0Despite\u00a0having\u00a0many\u00a0benefits,\u00a0it also how its own flows,\u00a0for example\u00a0storing\u00a0electronic information about\u00a0individuals\u00a0has the chance to produce a risk of getting hacked by\u00a0hackers.\u00a0When storing information about an individual electronically there are ethical issues that might arise\u00a0from it\u00a0such as accessibility, property, accuracy, and\u00a0privacy.\u00a0The first issue is accessibility\u00a0if anyone can just go online and access information about an individual this will pose a threat to that person, their personal information such as medical record, credit card information,\u00a0and more will be at risk of being used against that individual\u00a0and not everyone should have such access to these kinds of information. The second ethical issue is\u00a0property. It&#8217;s unethical to just breach someone else&#8217;s information which is considered property\u00a0under the law because electronic\u00a0information can\u00a0be used the same way as\u00a0physical objects.\u00a0The third issue\u00a0is\u00a0the accuracy of an individual&#8217;s information matters\u00a0because wrong and\u00a0inaccurate information can cause a big problem for a person.\u00a0It can affect their day-to-day life and it&#8217;s going to be stressful to that person. The last ethical\u00a0issue\u00a0that might arise from storing electronic information is the privacy of that information.
