SPAN 101

Here I will show off some of the work I have done as a student here at Old Dominion University studying Spanish. Each piece of work is cited and has a brief explanation of what they are revolved around.

Explore Culture

Here I explored what a university was like in Mexico. From the information I read, I compared it to my university in the United States.

LingroLearning “4-Exploracion cultural”

I feel that this exercise was very important to me in the Spanish-speaking world because it gives me an idea of the cultural life in a bordering Spanish-speaking country.

The next assignment I want to show off was an early assignment done to clarify meanings in the cultural assignment.

LingroLearning “2-Exploracion cultural”

This was one of the most important assignments done in the semester. I feel this way because it is overall expanding my knowledge of Spanish. This was only my second-ever assignment done in “exploracion cultural”

Engaging in Communities

Engaging in a community of fellow classmates learning Spanish is important. Below is a e portfolio that every classmate made

LingroLearning “1-Contrasena: Proyecto”

This was a fun way in engaging with each other speaking a different language. This is also important that we know what we are saying because if not, someone may be confused on how you portray yourself.

Another way in which I engaged in a community is putting comments on classmates projects.

LingroLearning “4-Contrasena: Proyecto”

This was a fun way to engage with each other in a friendly fashion. Seeing everyone makes nice comments to each other on the projects boosts the morale of the classroom environment.

Interpersonal Communication

Below is a link to a video of my classmate Angela and me practicing our Spanish-speaking skills.

This video project was very challenging for me. I used all of the knowledge I had in Spanish to keep a conversation with my classmate Angela. This took a lot of studying but definitely challenged the whole class into being better Spanish-speaking students.

presentational speaking

Below is a video of me describing 3 of my favorite places on campus. Click the link below to watch.

I feel that making this video really challenged my Spanish-speaking skills. Putting together this video took a lot of work and the constant studying of my class notes.

Interpretive Listening

Down below is an assignment about using verbs correctly.

LingroLearning “3-Gramatica II”

This assignment really showed my skills. I needed to read a schedule and be able to tell what he was doing at certain times. Not just finding the right verb was part of the assignment, I had to know how to properly say them.

The next assignment shows how I would respond to a situation.

LingroLearning “2-Estrategia de compression”

This assignment may seem very simple to some, but I feel that it is important. To me, learning the fundamentals of Spanish was everything. Once you learned the fundamentals, it made it easier to learn and be able to sound more fluent in your speaking.

The final one I want to show off

Presentational Writing

The next piece of work I want to show off is the unit 1 project. At the time of making this, I was still very new to the language.

LingroLearning “Proyecto 1-1”

Whenever I wrote this I was very proud of myself. I was just getting started and had to use all of my knowledge to put together a piece of work.

Another piece of writing I put together is a calendar and an essay explaining it.

The whole class thought this was challenging and so did I. Putting together your basic weekly schedule is Spanish and very personalized. On top of that, you had to explain your schedule. This was a very good assignment because it made us really practice and put to use our Spanish vocabulary.

Interpretive Reading

Learning to read Spanish and interpret it is a very skilled knowledge to have. The assignment down below shows a letter and questions I answered after it.

LingroLearning “5-Estrategia de compension”
LingroLearning “5-Estrategia de compension”

This assignment is very challenging because it really makes sure you read and understand everything that is being said in the letter. Certain words in the article indicate if it is for a professional or unprofessional purpose so I needed to know the difference between words in that portion of Spanish.
