SPAN 102

Interpretive, Interpersonal, and Presentational Modes of Communication

In my time here at Old Dominion University studying Spanish, I have moved on to the second course of the language. I learned many new ways of using my Spanish to communicate with other individuals in the language. Down below is examples of work that I have made throughout the course of this semester.

Exploring Culture

“Exploración 9-3 ¿Quién?” LingroLearning

There was a cultural assignment that I did where I read about people and had to match the statements to the right people.

“Exploración 6-1 ¿Dónde es legal el matrimonio igualitario?” LingroLearning

This assignment was very important to our modern-day culture in understanding what other cultures’ governments allow and disallow.

Engaging in Communities

“Proyecto 7-2 Comentar” LingroLearning

Engaging in a community is a fun way of getting to interact with each other in the language that we are learning. Here are some comments that fellow classmates put on my project after we all uploaded them.

Interpersonal Communication

“TalkAbroad Conversation 1 “La Familia”

Here is a short clip of my conversation with a lady named Daniela. She lives all the way in Mexico. This assignment was very neat and helpful to the success of my class because it allowed us to use what we have recently learned and put it to the test.

Presentational Speaking

“Proyecto 6-1” LingroLearning

This was a very neat assignment that I enjoyed very much. In this assignment, we made a family tree and then talked about individuals in our family and described them. I took a lot from this assignment because it thought me how to use adjectives correctly in Spanish.

Presentational Writing

“Proyecto 9”

Here was my project for unit 9. I was talking about allergies and what you can do to prevent them. This was beneficial to my learning experience because I had to describe ways that I personally do to avoid allergies. I feel like this was one of the assignments I can really carry on with me in the future.

“Proyecto 7”

Project 7 had to do a lot with my major. Personally, I am a sports management major. As Spanish arises as more popular here in the United States, we need to be able to know the language better. Doing Project 7 allowed me to combine sports and Spanish.

Interpretive Listening

‘Texto 10-1 Buscar información específica.” LingroLearning

Here I had to listen to audio and choose what each of the people studied while they were at a University. This was very proficient in my University experience because I am surrounded by school 24/7.

“Texto 6-1 Los miembros de la Familia.”LingroLearning

This was pretty similar to the one that is listed above. I had audio to listen to by a girl named Teresa. For each family member that was listed, I had to point them out in the options beside the audio.

Interpretive Reading

“Gramática 7-8 Consejos.” LingroLearning

There was an assignment from unit 7 where I had to read a situation and respond with an appropriate activity for the situation described. I really had to be interpretive so that I could give the appropriate advice.

“Gramática 10-15 El aviso. ” LingroLearning

This was a more advanced assignment that I completed in unit 10. I had to go through and read the paragraph and find the 12 verbs in the preterite form that describe completed past events.
