ODU offers four Majors which has similar characteristics in Cybersecurity. Those are Computer Science, Master of Science in Cybersecurity, Cyber Operations, and CyberCrime. First, Cyber Operations. Cyber activities is an interdisciplinary major that covers the full extent of cyberspace and related operations, both technological and non-technical (ethical, legal, human-centered, etc.). Cyber Operations is a discipline that complements cyber security. Cyber Operations focus on relevant technologies and techniques at all operational and system levels. Cyber Operations coursework combines theory, practice, and hands-on laboratories based on real-world problems. The skills and competencies addressed are system assault, infiltration, exploitation, defense, mitigation, and recovery.
Second, students who major in CyberCrime are prepared for careers in law enforcement and information technology. Students in the cybercrime program will be expected to have good written and verbal communication skills and mathematical and logical abilities. Students will take criminology, cybersecurity, and information technology classes. These courses will teach them about technology-related criminal justice concerns such as cyber laws and computer crime investigations. They will also learn the technical skills businesses require, such as Cybersecurity, digital forensics, computer networking, and common programming languages such as Java and C+.
Third, professionals in Computer Science are in high demand. The ODU BSCS curriculum can help you succeed in software development, computer science, and other related fields or graduate studies. Learn about the mathematical, logical, and engineering foundations of computer science and the discipline’s experimental and design components. Investigate more specific topics like network and database management, information security analysis, and others. Graduates of the BSCS program are prepared to apply their expertise to relevant computing fields and face new technical problems.
Last, the Cybersecurity Master’s degree is intended to prepare cybersecurity technology leaders. Graduates will gain technical abilities and competencies in Cybersecurity and be prepared to take on responsibility for cybersecurity project management and cyber operation team coordination. It also prepares individuals for Ph.D. studies or teaching cybersecurity courses in colleges and institutions
