Computers have made the world a much safer place, but it also has brought things are malicious to the world. One example of this in today’s world is IoT(Internet of things). This is an extension of the internet connectivity into physical devices and everyday objects. These devices can communicate and interact with others over the internet, and they can be remotely monitor and controlled. An example of this is the real world today is, say my check engine light comes on, and I know I need to if its serious or not. This is caused by a sensor in my car, it is connected to my break line and other sensors are getting the same information. A component in my car called the diagnostic bust gathers all the information from these sensors and passes important information it to a gateway then to the manufacturer of the car. The application will then gather other information from diagnostics from other cars to figure out if it’s just a simple fix or something serious. From here they will send alerts to my phone for correct diagnostic. This had helped make cars and other things safer. The IoT has also made things less safe as well, the merging technology was an easy target for DDoS attacks because of the how cheaply it was made and the lack updates in the firmware. These attacks brought down many attacks on the ISPs across the east coast back in 2016. Some ways that computer have made it less safe is phishing attacks, they hide themselves as trustworthy being so they can enter personal things like email amongst other things.
